Yarns are spun from cotton fibres. The cotton fibres come in various lengths, referred to as the staple.

The longer the fibre the better the final cotton product as less ends are exposed during the spinning process. The highest quality cotton is extra long staple followed by long staple.
Yarn which is produced from a shorter staple cotton has a coarser feel because more ends need to be joined together during spinning to make the final product.

At Amber Co, we only use long staple organic cotton with a spinning count of at least 60s. Long cotton fibres can be spun into stronger, finer yarns and produce smooth, supple weaves.
